News & Updates

1/6/26 - Massively Optimized Bladescape for Scaling

Hey all!
In my last update I briefed you all about Floor Clipping, this would happen because the game calculates the z position of the player based on a raycast.
The problem with this is - with a lot of players, raycasting can cost a lot of resources.
especially with hundreds of players in the browser.
when we tried to fix it last time, we'd decide to try letting clients calculate their position client side and they'd hand their position to the server which would distribute them across the other clients
However, due to delays in sending, players would suddenly clip into the map for a second, before popping back up.
So to effectively fix this, we implemented a new change to stop calculating z positions of players that aren't in the player's vicinity, which would help FPS a lot.
We've also changed the background to a new finished BG image and the Menu font has been changed.
We also fixed a bug regarding logging in, Now you can log in without error + updated cheating prevention. - GM Minitech

1/5/26 - New Camera View + Fixed floor clipping

One of the biggest bugs in the game have been fixed, Floor Clipping. However this may come with a possibility that lag will increase during your session, especially with more players. However now you and your friends will no longer clip through the floor when your character moves around.

I also coded a new camera view, considering the map is getting larger and larger, looking directly at the vast amounts of trees will be really punishing on your computer, and this is bad because the game is meant to be played on the web. The camera is now tilted downwards -- sort of reminiscent of an somewhat isometric view whilst still being 3D. This should help performance a lot. For anybody wondering, this might still be a "phase" and maybe at some point I'll add a effective method of culling out objects further away.
I've also added a new font, and am currently fixing chat billboarding. Whilst debugging, I found a couple of lines of code which could potentially become a pain to fix so I decided to fix them now before they become a problem later on.
I've fixed security problems and locked down the database. so the amount of exploiters should be culled down more from the possible amount
on the beta's release day.
Expect more updates to come soon!

1/5/26 - Extra Clarification

Just realized that many of you do not understand what this game is, so I decided to make a post clarifying and explaining what Bladescape Online is all about:

Welcome to Bladescape Online Survive, build, and shape a persistent world worn by the touch of man. From towering walls to hidden caverns, every structure is permanent and every battle leaves its mark. Discover a vast, open landscape in this sandbox MMORPG where your story lasts as long as the world itself. Make your own settlements, plant entire forests, or hunt the beasts that roam the land. Craft every tool by hand, from shafts and mallets to hammer heads and nails - and feel every wall rise piece by piece. The world awaits your arrival.

Hope this clears things up a bit!

1/4/26 - New Website

After much time, it's finally here. I did come to realize pretty early on that to a lot of people interested in the development of the game, they'd be updated via the GDevelop Discord Server, which is great, but not everyone uses Discord and even less people use GDevelop. So I decided to open this website to for one, have a place for everybody to check out the development of this MMO but also have a place to host the game when it's ready to be played. Expect more updates to come as development continues!
